Expect delays on Mandela Highway this weekend

Published:Friday | July 13, 2018 | 12:00 AM

The National Works Agency is advising motorists  to expect delays on the Mandela Highway this Saturday and Sunday.

This is because pipe-laying works will be carried out along a section of the westbound lane at the intersection with Tom Cringle Drive.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted warning signs and the instruction of flag persons.

Water Lane to be closed

The National Works Agency (NWA) says it will be closing a section of Water Lane in downtown Kingston this Saturday to facilitate drainage improvement works in the vicinity of the Rubis Service Station.

Motorists heading to downtown Kingston via Marcus Garvey Drive and Water Lane are urged to use East Avenue or Industrial Terrace.

The acting manager of communication and customer services at the NWA, Ramona Lawson, says Water Lane will be inaccessible beyond the intersection with Port Royal Street.

She said drainage improvement works will be carried out between 8 a.m and 8 p.m and will involve excavating a section of the roadway to replace a pipe culvert.
