Buchanan... her departure comes just over a month after concern that her daughter was being paid $80,000 per month while temporarily assisting the USF with its social media activities.

Chief Executive Officer of the Universal Service Fund (USF) Suzette Buchanan has "separated" from the Agency.

The details surrounding her departure have not been released.

However, it comes just over a month after concern that her daughter was being paid $80,000 per month while temporarily assisting the USF with its social media activities.

It's the latest in a series of developments at the embattled Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology including the resignation of the minister Dr Andrew Wheatley, the Petrojam managing director Floyd Grindley and the head of the National Energy Solutions Limited Carolyn Warren.

A release from the USF said Buchanan’s separation took effect on Friday, August 17.

Buchanan was the defeated Jamaica Labour Party candidate for the East Central St Catherine constituency in the 2011 election.

She is also a former board member and CEO of Caymanas Track.

USF board chairman Robert Lawrence said the agency will continue the execution of its projects as outlined in its Strategic Plan 2018-2021.

He has thanked Buchanan for her service and wished her the best in her endeavours.

Lawrence said in the interim, the financial controller of the USF will act as CEO until a suitable replacement is found following a recruitment exercise.
