JPS employee among four persons arrested

A Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) employee is among four persons who were arrested on Sunday night in connection with the alleged illegal removal of fuel from its Hunts Bay power station. The arrest follows weeks of surveillance by the JPS Security Department and the police.

The persons who were arrested are scheduled to appear in court this week to answer to the charges. At the same time, the investigation into the alleged theft is continuing in an effort to identify other persons who may have been involved.

JPS has intensified its efforts to curtail illegal activity and has indicated a zero-tolerance approach to internal corruption. The company is encouraging the public to report any illegal activity involving JPS property by calling 888-CALLJPS, or by emailing calljps@jpsco.com.

The JPS says all reports will be treated confidentially.
