Deans ... assumed duties in October 2016

Trudy Deans is no longer Jamaica's consul general to New York.

Deans assumed duties in October 2016 but her contract ended on December 31 last year and has not been renewed.

An official of the foreign ministry says deputy consul general Lisa Bryan is now acting as the consul general.

The ministry official could not immediately say why Deans' contract was not renewed.

From 2010-2012 Deans served as vice consul and community relations officer at the Jamaican Consulate in New York.

In 2017, that's less than a year after being named consul general, Deans was appointed vice-president of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York.
