GraceKennedy Group Chief Executive Officer Don Wehby has been named chairman of this year’s Jamaica Diaspora Conference, said State Minister Pearnel Charles Jr.

Wehby will preside over the event in Kingston from June 16-20.

“Mr Wehby is well positioned given his chairmanship of JAMPRO and as a senior private-sector leader. He represents an independent authentic voice who understands the Government of Jamaica agenda,” said Charles Jr, who operates out of the foreign affairs ministry.

Charles Jr said that the business honcho has committed to leveraging his expertise and resources for the staging of a successful event.

Wehby was elated at the honour.

“Following my conversation with Minister [Kamina] Johnson Smith, my call to service was reinforced, and I gladly accepted,” he said.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Jamaica and the Diaspora: Building Pathways for Sustainable Development’.
