Denbigh 67 promises much to see and explore

The 67th staging of the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show will kick off at the Denbigh Showground in Clarendon tomorrow, with organisers promising to excite patrons over the three days.
Under the theme ‘Grow What We Eat, Eat What We Grow: Aligning Farming Decisions with Climatic Conditions’, the premier agricultural show in the Western Hemisphere will offer an unforgettable experience, with livestock exhibitions; innovations in technology; and some mouth-watering local foods, fruits, and drinks.
“Our standard is high, and we aim to deliver to sponsors and patrons value for money, providing the best in entertainment, clean family fun, and innovations to excite and captivate the minds of the young. ... Our farmers will be on hand to provide reasonably priced, wholesome Jamaican foods in keeping with our theme,” Jamaica Agricultural Society President Lenworth Fulton told The Gleaner.
The entertainment for tomorrow, the Governor General’s Day, will see the staging of the Hi-Pro Gospel Extravaganza with a host of solid gospel acts. The National Farm Queen Competition takes the spotlight on Monday, August 5, while the show will culminate on Independence Day, Tuesday, August 6, with an impressive showcase of Jamaican culture and exciting local artistes.
On Tuesday, the Prime Minister’s Day, Andrew Holness will host Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta and his delegation.
In addition to the coronation of the National Farm Queen, the champion farmer, champion woman farmer, and champion youth farmer will also be crowned. There will be youth in agriculture and tourism villages with maypole dancing and jonkunnu on show.
Farmers’ markets and a melting pot of traditional food, product samples and new sensations are also set to delight the palate.
Patrons looking for the latest in industrial equipment, sustainable solutions including greenhouse farming, irrigation, rainwater harvesting systems, water treatment, and solar heating solutions will have much from which to choose.
In addition, patrons will be able to partake in and enjoy the Denbigh Village Concepts – children and family village, health and wellness village, a craft village – the Denbigh food court, horticultural displays, and agricultural displays
