WESTERN BUREAU:

Nichala Facey, the St James man charged with the murder of 74-year-old Evelyn Blaire, who was doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire, will have to wait until late November to know his fate as his lawyer was a no-show when his case was called up in the James Parish Court on Thursday.

Facey, who is represented by attorney Shelly-Ann Hyman, was to have undergone a bail hearing before presiding Parish Judge Sandria Wong-Small.

Additionally, the court was told that the prosecution’s case file was still incomplete as the post-mortem report, closed-circuit television camera footage, and a statement from a justice of the peace were outstanding.

It is alleged that at approximately 3 a.m. on April 25, Blair was in her one-bedroom house at Lima district in St James when Facey reportedly tried to rape her. Blair managed to chase him off with a machete. Later that morning, Facey attacked Blair on the road and set her ablaze.
