Woman isolated at Annotto Bay Hospital days after China trip

A Jamaican woman who returned from China in the past week has been admitted to the Annotto Bay Hospital in St Mary.
Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton says as a precaution, the woman has been isolated.
It's part of Jamaica's response amid global concern about the Coronavirus which has killed more than 200 people and infected thousands more in China, particularly in Wuhan.
In a statement issued a short while ago, however, the Health Ministry said the symptoms of the patient do not meet the case definition for novel Coronavirus.
The ministry said the woman complained of a headache, anorexia, chills, dryness to the throat and generalised weakness.
According to the Ministry, the patient landed in Jamaica on January 30.
It said she reported no history of cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, vomiting, muscle pain or diarrhoea.
Further, the ministry says the patient’s vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse rate, blood oxygen, and temperature all registered normal readings.
The development comes a day after 19 Chinese tourists arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston and were refused landing privileges under a travel ban now in place.
They were sent back home this morning.
