Fed up senior cop pleads for wanted man to surrender

Fed-up with crimes being committed in the Kingston Central Police Division allegedly by a notorious wanted man, a senior cop has appealed to residents to help in capturing Ian Wright commonly called ‘Sacramento’.
"Since his return, this entire stretch has become unstable,” deputy superintendent Linval Phoenix told residents of Laws Street at a community meeting last night.
“Sacramento knows we want him. One thing I assure residents is that I am fed up of it,” Phoenix said.
Wright, who is wanted by the police for murder, is known to have often eluded cops by running on rooftops.
Phoenix said residents must convince him to get an attorney and surrender to the police.
According to the deputy superintendent, Wright had been absent from the community for some time, but since his return, shootings have spiked.
"If you see him, tell him to come over Central and don't let us go out and look for him. He loves to run on the house tops and we don't have any time to run him down on house. Tell him he can come in with his lawyer," the deputy superintendent said.
He also warned Phoenix’s alleged criminal associates that they too will be hunted.
"There is no yard in Parade Gardens we will not go, once evidence leads us there,” he said, urging residents to dissuade their relatives from getting involved in crime and instead engage in positive and constructive skills training programmes.
In the meantime, Phoenix said the police will not issue party permits if gunfire and gang activity in central Kingston are not abated.
"Once it is safe, by all pleasure, come to Kingston Central with your applications," he said.
