JPS partner Korea East-West buying COVID rapid-test machine for Jamaica

Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) president and CEO Emanuel DaRosa has announced that the company will be donating $45 million to the national coronavirus fight.
In a digital briefing on Saturday morning, DaRosa said, of this amount, a significant portion will be used to buy equipment for the health services.
The JPS boss also announced that shareholders Korea East-West Power Company will be bringing to Jamaica, advanced testing equipment that will provide coronavirus results within an hour.
"This equipment has been ordered and it will arrive here in Jamaica within two weeks," DaRosa said.
At present, it takes a minimum of one day for the government to test samples for the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, DaRosa said care packages and bill support will also be provided for elderly customers.

DaRosa has also committed to keeping the power running for Jamaica amid the COVID crisis.
So far, 30 people have tested positive for the virus with one death.
