Police probing Mandeville murder
Police detectives in Mandeville are trying to piece together possible clues into yesterday's fatal drive-by shooting of a man along Villa Road in Manchester.
It happened near the intersection with deCarteret Road.
The police did not immediately release the identity of the victim, but said, he was shot some time after 2 p.m, while walking along the roadway.
He died on the spot.
Meanwhile, Mandeville detectives are also probing a robbery and shooting at a Texaco service station on Manchester Road earlier this week.
Commanding Officer, Superintendent Gary Francis, said a customer who was at the pump to receive service received injuries to his arm.
Francis was unable to say how much money was stolen in the robbery.
He also said the police were preparing for potential increases in criminal activities by people trying to exploit measures imposed in response to the coronavirus in Jamaica.
"We have increased our presence on the roads and we are doing all we can to make our citizens feel safe," Francis said.
