As we continue to take the necessary precautions in light of COVID-19, The Gleaner Library remains committed and continues to provide excellent service remotely.

The library is closed to walk-in clients until further notice. However, you have the option to access the Gleaner Archives and subscribe to our services at www.gleanerarchives.com.

The online archives give you access to content dating back to 1834 and is searchable using names and keywords. Articles/pages can be downloaded and saved in PDF format.

You can catch up on several historic events that happened in Jamaica over the many decades, including the Bog Walk Tube incident in 1904, the 1907 earthquake, the Spanish influenza outbreak in 1918, the Kendal train crash, and Jamaica’s Independence celebrations in 1962.

For persons who don’t wish to subscribe, you can email your research queries to library@gleanerjm.com or call 876-932-6231. We will conduct your research and provide you with the information electronically.

You have the option to pay by credit card and or via bank transfer to our National Commercial Bank (NCB) and Scotiabank accounts.

Additional archival materials can also be accessed by visiting the library’s online store at http://thegleanerstore.mycapture.com/. A selection of photographs and pages can be purchased here.

We look forward to serving you and urge you to follow the guidelines of the Government of Jamaica in battling this coronavirus pandemic.
