Two more COVID deaths and 74 new cases, Jamaica to construct COVID hospitals

Tufton: As of Friday, September 11, the daily COVID statistics will be released at 10 a.m on the website of the Health Ministry at http://moh.gov.jm.

Jamaica has recorded two more COVID deaths – those of a 90-year-old and a 34-year-old.

Their deaths have pushed the tally to 40.

In the meantime, there were 74 new cases Thursday, increasing the total to 3,511 with 2,342 of them active.

Thirty-two more recoveries have pushed the total to 1,051.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton has announced that as of Friday, September 11, the daily COVID statistics will be released at 10 a.m on the website of the Health Ministry at http://moh.gov.jm.

Weekly press conferences will continue.

Tufton has also announced that a field hospital is to arrive in Jamaica in the next two weeks to be located in Kingston. 

He said a second will later be constructed in the centre of the island and a third in western Jamaica.

According to Tufton, work has already started to accommodate the first field hospital.
