Justice Patrick Brooks named new Appeal Court president

Justice Patrick Brooks has been named as the new president of the Court of Appeal.

He succeeds Justice Dennis Morrison who will retire on Friday.

Brooks will be sworn in at King's House on Monday.

He has had a long career in the judiciary and was appointed to the Appeal Court in January 2012.

Justice Brooks was admitted to practice law in 1979 and worked as a prosecutor in various capacities including Crown Counsel in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

He later worked as a legal officer at the Jamaica Public Service Company for three years before joining the firm of Nunes Scholefield DeLeon and Company where he was a partner for more than 16 years.

In September 2002, Brooks was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court.
