Three illegal guns seized in first hour of 2021

In Glendevon, St James, a teenage boy and two others were apprehended and a .45 pistol with seven rounds of ammunition taken from them.

The police are reporting that they seized three illegal firearms in separate incidents in the first hour of the new year.

In the first incident a minute after midnight, the police say on approaching a man on Casino Drive in Naggo Head, St Catherine, he ran away leaving behind a homemade shotgun with five rounds of ammunition.

Minutes later in Glendevon, St James, a teenage boy and two others were apprehended and a .45 pistol with seven rounds of ammunition taken from them.

In the third incident, a semi-automatic submachine gun was found at a property about 12:40 a.m. during a police-military operation in Dempshire Pen, St Catherine.

The police say the gun was found among debris.

No arrest was made.
