Alleged baby thief for court July 30

The woman who was found with an abducted five-week-old baby in 2019 after reportedly agreeing to adopt the infant for $500,000 is to return to the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on July 30.
The accused, Anneisha Ramsay, who is in her early 20s, had her bail extended on child-stealing charges after a new mention date was set to facilitate the completion of the case file.
Baby Nyyear Frank was snatched while his mother was walking with him along Rousseau Road in St Andrew on the afternoon of October 13. The mother was reportedly forced into a motor car with her baby by men who later took the infant and released her.
On January 22, 2020, the baby was found at a house in Hopewell district, St Andrew, in Ramsay’s care. Consequently, she was arrested and charged.
According to court documents, Ramsay had allegedly been in discussion with the person who gave her the infant before Nyyear was abducted.
It is further alleged that Ramsay was told that she would only be required to give the baby’s mother some money.
Following those discussions, Ramsay reportedly did not hear from that person until October 2019 when she was again contacted and the baby was given to her with the intention of a payment plan.
It is also reported that Ramsay was told that the baby would cost $500,000.
But Ramsay’s attorney-at-law, Davion Vassell, has maintained that his client was not aware that there was any money involved in her getting the child.
According to Vassell, during the bail application hearing last February, Ramsay, who prior to the baby’s abduction had suffered a miscarriage and was experiencing depression, was approached by one of her friends who told her that she knew of someone who wanted to give up a baby for adoption.
Shortly after, Vassell said the friend contacted Ramsay again and, days later, presented her with the child, who turned out to be Nyyear.
