A resident from Torrington Park in Kingston was seen cleaning blood from a hairdressing salon on Tuesday after a gunman shot and injured two women the night before.

Torrington Park residents are thankful that an attack on the lives of at least three females Monday night did not end fatally.

Two women, however, remain hospitalised after the attack, which took place sometime after 8 p.m.

Reports are that a lone gunman approached three women at the establishment and opened fire, hitting two. The attacker escaped.

Relatives and friends of the injured women were busy cleaning blood and debris out a salon.

One woman was shot in the shoulder and the other in her leg, a family member said.

The gunman wore a mask.

Residents said that the gun attack took them by surprise.

“No war no inna the place now, but some time it start up and people don’t know until something happen,” a resident, who requested anonymity, said.

The Admiral Town police, who are stationed near to the crime scene, are investigating the shooting.

Up to July 13, murders in the Kingston Western Police Division have soared by 18 per cent to 66, ten more than for the corresponding period in 2020.

Shootings in the division have climbed year-on-year by 32 per cent, from 51 to 68 reports.
