WESTERN BUREAU:

Relatives of a popular social media personality are today expected to view the body of a woman found with what appeared to be gunshot wounds on Friday morning in Reading, St James, as the police seek confirmation of the victim’s identity.

Investigators revealed that the partially decomposing body was removed from the sea at a public bathing beach in Reading on the outskirts of Montego Bay, St James.

It had what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the back of the head.

Reports are that about 9:30 a.m., people who had gone to the beach discovered the body floating face down and raised an alarm.

Upon arrival, the police sought assistance from their colleagues at the Marine Division to retrieve the body.

A bloodied piece of cloth and a wig are among the items retrieved at the scene by investigators.

The police believe the victim was killed elsewhere and then dumped in the sea at the location.

The police said the social media personality’s relatives have been contacted and will journey from Kingston for today’s identification session.

As unconfirmed reports spread that the body could be that of the social media personality, several followers took to her Instagram pages to express shock and send condolences to her family.

Another popular social media personality, 24-year-old Donna-Lee Donaldson, went missing on July 11 and has been presumed dead.

To date, her body has not been found, but her boyfriend, Constable Noel Maitland, has since been charged with her murder and is currently before the courts.

Thirty-six-year-old Leon ‘Leegates’ McNeil, a popular vlogger, was also shot dead in Portland Cottage, Clarendon, on September 24, hours after he voiced his concern over the spike in murders within the parish.

He was gunned down about 8:55 p.m. while attending a party in the community.
