The family of 25-year-old Sashay Burke, 25, of Alexandria, St Ann is appealing for help to raise funds to enable her to have an urgent heart surgery.

Sashay, also known as Keena, has been diagnosed with two holes in her heart which require life-saving surgery.

Described as ambitious, kind, and community-oriented, the family said Keena has been facing health challenges since she was in school and has displayed resilience and determination.

“We are seeking financial assistance to cover the cost of the surgery and related expenses. Your support can make a life-changing difference for Keena,” said Florel Fraser, organiser for a GoFundMe page that has been set up to raise funds to help Keena.

The aim is to raise US$20,000 for the surgery and related expenses and, up to last week, 50 donors had donated approximately US$3,000. The surgery alone, which will be done in the United States, costs around US$14,000, it was disclosed.

“We’re hoping we can at least reach that mark and everything else, hopefully, will fall into place,” Fraser told The Gleaner.

Donations can be made online at https://gofund.me/8149c4c8 or locally at Sagicor bank account number 55 0379 9539.
