DCS gets new commissioner of corrections
The Ministry of National Security yesterday announced the appointment of Brigadier Radgh Mason as the new commissioner of corrections in the Department of Correctional Services (DCS).
Mason takes office on Tuesday, April 2. He replaces Dr Marc Thomas, who was acting commissioner from 2023.
Mason enlisted in the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) on October 23, 1989 and served as an officer in the regular force for 33 years with distinguished service.
He is a transformational leader and team player with extensive experience at the executive level in various fields of expertise. His primary skill set includes strategic management, finance, logistics, human resource, and information systems management.
Mason is currently pursuing a doctorate in Economic Development Policy at The University of the West Indies. He holds several national awards including the Order of Distinction, Rank of Officer, as well as the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service. He was also the JDF’s co-chair on the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica’s COVID-19 Response Fund in 2020 and led the logistic planning and multi-agency implementation for the delivery of thousands of care packages across the island.
Jamalco appoints new managing director
Marvin Jackson is Jamalco’s new managing director. His appointment became effective on March 26, 2024. Mr Jackson has oversight responsibility for all aspects of Jamalco’s operations. The announcement was made by Century’s Executive Vice President, Global Operations, Gunnar Guðlaugsson.
Jackson is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in the bauxite alumina industry. He has served in various key leadership positions at West Indies Alumina Company (UC Rusal Windalco) and UC Rusal Alpart in Jamaica.
His tenure as a general manager at Norsk Hydro Brazil and vice president and general manager of operations at First Bauxite LLC and subsidiary Guyana Industrial Minerals underscores his exceptional leadership skills and industry knowledge.
He succeeds Austin Mooney who demitted office earlier this month.
