The police have held a suspect in connection with the disappearance of primary school teacher Danielle Anglin almost a month ago.

The name of the man, a convicted sex offender, is to be released at a later date.

Anglin left home for work at 5:50 on the morning of May 13, but did not arrive at work.

According to the police, a collaborative approach among several arms of law enforcement led to the discovery of a body believed to be that of Anglin in a densely vegetated area in Torrington district, Salt River in Clarendon on Monday.

It stated that through the use of technology and forensics, the location of the body was determined and the remains and scene processed by sleuths.

“As part of the investigation, the team visited her community and school and conducted a number of interviews ... utilising available technologies and forensics capabilities which allowed for [the] identification of a number of vehicles which were assessed and analysed,” said Fitz Bailey, deputy commissioner of police.

Amid the investigation, the vehicle was linked to the disappearance of Anglin and the suspected driver was arrested. The suspect later gave a statement admitting to his involvement in the teacher’s murder.

“This and other investigations ... indicate the quality of the people and technology in the Constabulary Force, to serve and protect,” Bailey said. “It bears testament of good work, collaboration, due diligence, police and public partnership and attention to details.”

Over the three-week-long investigation, the police utilised the expertise of the St Andrew South Criminal Investigation Branch, the Communication Forensics and Cybercrimes Division, the Scenes of Crime, and the Criminal Investigation Branch.
