We're to blame for dollar plunge

THE EDITOR, Sir:
The governor of the Bank of Jamaica, Brian Wynter, a charming man, is a soother who would like to please everyone. We need a governor who is not afraid to say things as they are.
The Jamaican dollar devalues because we import too much and export too little. In 1972, the Jamaican dollar was worth US$1.20. It has been on a continuous decline, and now it takes J$134 to buy US$1.
We the people of Jamaica are devaluing the dollar ourselves while we scream at others like the International Monetary Fund for our plight. Jamaica, be careful! Look at Venezuela!
