Wood over concrete

Published:Tuesday | August 14, 2018 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:
With so many construction projects taking place, at what point will the powers that be decide that Kingston is in danger of becoming overdeveloped? What, if any, criteria are being used to measure at what point Kingston ought to slow down, or put a permanent or temporary halt to private and/or commercial real estate developments?
Given all the concrete buildings that have been built, and the pressure that continues to be placed on the natural environment, would it not be wise for the government and entities like NEPA, the Forestry Department, etc., to promote the construction of wood structures? The latter are more environmentally friendly, more architecturally appealing, cooler, and add more charm to a city than their concrete counterparts.
