Use the wrecking ball, Mr Dalling!

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Corruption in Jamaica is not a secret. It is easy to identify each government agency that is rife with corruption, and if one has the right money and contacts, identifying the corrupt individual is as easy as getting a driver's licence, even if you cannot read.

I am totally flabbergasted that Peter Bunting would have a serious issue with the CEO of the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA), Shane Dalling, taking a wrecking ball to the agency to clean it up. Is it that the People's National Party and Mr Bunting are OK with governments overseeing corrupt agencies?

In every organisation, once there is a corruption probe, it is normal to see an increase in departure of personnel, not necessarily for the reason that they are involved, but some persons, to protect their own reputation, choose to leave organisations that are embroiled in scandals.

Therefore, what is so difficult to comprehend in an increase in the turnover rate at the FLA, with the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, Office of the Contractor General, the Ministry of National Security and the police all converging on the agency at once?

I say to Mr Dalling, ensure that the wrecking ball is still in your artillery.
