Patrick City needs water

Published:Thursday | April 18, 2019 | 12:29 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am using this medium to see if I can get some answers and assistance in the community of Patrick City in St Andrew, which is suffering immensely from the lack of water.

I do understand that there is work going on that causes the water to be turned off, but how in God’s name are we to function without any water. We have been having this problem from last year, but the situation is worsening, as we are now going without water for three days at a time, and when it comes it’s a trickle. It is now standard not to have water on Saturdays or Sundays.

Right now, we are without water, as the trickle that came at about 6:15 a.m. did not allow us to fill up any containers, and the trickle stopped at approximately 7:30 a.m.

I am unable to make any contact with the member of parliament for the area, as the phone at the constituency office goes straight to voicemail, which tells us it is full.

Someone needs to give the matter some immediate attention, as we will soon be having some breakout of disease in the area.

A water truck is not necessarily the answer, as there are senior people like myself who cannot go out to a truck to lift water and take it back to their house, etc, not to mention deal with the inherent problem of crowd and near riot to get the water.

The fact is, I am baffled as to why we do not have any water. What is causing the lack of water?

PLEASE, WE NEED HELP! I NEED HELP!
