Dhoni inspired Shai Hope
THE EDITOR, Madam:
It was very heartening to see the triumphant captain Shai Hope of the West Indies One Day International (ODI) squad that routed England in the first match in the three-match series. Hope played a captain’s knock, his decisive unbeaten 109 runs knock off 83 balls was played with the same intent as one of the best Indian cricket captain, popularly known as the ‘Finisher’ – Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He had some valuable tips to share with Hope who said, “Dhoni had told me a year back that having a great potential within you coupled with sufficient time you should try to stick to the wicket as far as possible. Dhoni’s words were in mind for the last one year. And I played accordingly.”
Hope’s latest knock of 109 was his 16th ODI hundred – well done.
