Jamaica needs dams to address the water crisis

Published:Thursday | April 11, 2024 | 12:06 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Jamaica became an independent nation in 1962. Since that time, or probably before, its two dams were built. None has been built since, even with the Jamaican population now close to three million persons.

Each parish should have had its own dam, or if not, a dam constructed to serve at least two parishes.

No attempt has been made by successive governments over the years to address the situation. This is very sad, and only goes to show that the various leaders over the years do not care in the least about the Jamaican people.
