Impeachment for legislators, other officials

THE EDITOR, Madam:

With reference to The Gleaner editorial on Tuesday, August 6, on the matter of impeachment, please note that the proposal that emanated from the Joint Select Committee on Constitutional and Electoral Reform of 1995, and which was the substance of the constitutional amendment bill I tabled in 2011, was for the impeachment not only of legislators, but also other designated public officials.

The clarification is important.
