First aid for ‘first responders’

THE EDITOR, Madam:

While we embrace and indulge in all that new ‘technology’ offers us in this almost entirely digital age, we need to be mindful that the human body remains flesh and blood with untold vulnerabilities. This is compounded by the prevalence of recklessness on our roads which leads to nuff brukkup and tragedy.

If brukkup nuh bad ennuff, how exuberant amateur ‘first responders’ tek up di victim dem (mark you, wid all good intenshan – so mi nuh ungrateful) lawks man, mi wonder if di man hanglin naaah mek dem injury wussa!!

So, I am recommending that certain first aid be taught at home, at work, at church, at clubs, ebery weh, to include taxi drivers and all who drive.

In any emergency, good intention coupled with best practice can, for the most part to my mind, be the ‘stitch that saves the nine’.

Just so mi see it!!
