Who is responsible for maintaining the clocks?

The Editor, Madam:

I fail to think that I am the only one who is bothered that the clock in Half-Way Tree has stopped working. Has anyone looked up at the clock in Old Harbour Square? One of my childhood memories is that of staring up in admiration at the clock in Old Harbour Square. In my eyes, that clock seemed so tall and stately. The hands are rusty and hanging in an almost obscene position. The entire structure is cracked, and the paint is peeled. The clock is now a total eyesore.

Where are the business owners? Has any politician looked up at one of these clocks lately? We are Jamaicans. We deserve better. We can do better than this. Who is responsible for maintaining the clocks?

Minister Grange has had a lengthy career in community affairs. What do you say, Minister Grange? Come on business owners–what are you going to do about rehabilitating and fixing the clocks that are in need of repair?
