Who is saving the US?

THE EDITOR, Madam:

For the past four years, the United States has been sliding backwards and sideways into what is now a swamp of self-centredness, shame and sloth. Ordinary life for most of us is just not as good as it once was, and the world around us seems out of control.

With Trump and Vance, the promises of the conservative right have easily proven to be hollow ones, and for all of us who have seen their narratives and compared their records, we know them to be liars and incompetent.

With Harris and Walz, on the progressive left, the good life will not be yielded to the mindless, capitalist state that promotes the self-centred rights of the individual in favour of the will of a knowledgeable few – an elite few who patiently guide the masses with lovely sounding visions of a better life on one hand, while the other hand, behind their backs, is slowly taking care of their needs.

You can trust that four years of Harris-Walz will do Jamaica a lot better than four more years of that other person. There is no real choice in this election. One is redemption, the other damnation – so I ask all Jamaicans for their help, implore your American-citizen relatives to vote Democrat. I would though like to add, by doing so we will help them to destroy my country before all those mean, racist old white people have their way and save it.
