Letter of the Day | How can fake intelligence make world better?
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Growing up, I was lead to believe that ‘artificial’ meant ‘fake’. According to Oxford Dictionary, the word ‘artificial’ has the same meaning, “something made up, not real”.
I’ve yet to see anyone prove to me that this isn’t so, and if the intelligence we’re being given is artificial, which means made up, how can we rely on such intelligence. As an observer, I’m just watching everyone go to hell in a handbasket for thinking made-up, or fake, intelligence will make this world a better place.
Real intelligence lies in the mind of an individual, not curated on a hard drive by a mega corporation. It is well known that information found on the Internet is as unreliable as an Internet connection in a lightning storm. It cannot be trusted, and should never be trusted.
