Last Thursday, the Republic of Cuba's Embassy celebrated the 58th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution - National Day in fine style.

Diplomats, politicians, Cubans living in Jamaica and well-wishers came to support the Cuban Embassy. They were greeted under the stars by Ambassador Bernardo Guanche Hernandez at his Millsborough residence.

The formalities began with the playing of both national anthems followed by a beautiful video tribute in song to the late President, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.

In his presentation, Ambassador Hernandez complimented the Jamaican Government for its continued support. He mentioned how grateful Cuba is for the close-knit relationship. He also made reference to areas of growth and change in the Cuban Government and the sorrow of the country to have lost Fidel Castro, who had been so instrumental in their revolution.

He toasted Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kamina Johnson Smith, after which she shared similar sentiments of the Cuban people and Government.

After the conclusion of the formalities, guests got to partake in fine Cuban cuisine, music, and light banter among old and new friends.
