Jamaica Stock Exchange Regional Conference starts strong
A staple on the menu of financial events for its stakeholders, the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) opened its 12th Regional Conference on Investments and the Capital Markets to a full house on Wednesday morning.
Held under the theme 'Global Investment Horizon: Our Options and Our Future,' the event, staged January 24-26, brought together key participants of the financial services industry and members of the Jamaican diaspora to discuss and present ideas on issues pertinent to the development of the capital market.
In her welcome message, JSE general manager Marlene Street Forrest said this year's theme recognises that regionally, the Caribbean is part of an evolving global market, which though it has its challenges, gives viable financial options to improving the future.
Anxious to conquer new frontiers, Street Forrest and an impressive team of speakers, including Prime Minister Andrew Holness, put on a three-day show that looked at leadership and governance, investor confidence, regulations, and key winning industries within the region.
Today brings you highlights of the event.
