Several of Jamaica's medical minds converged on the Jamaica Pegasus for the Medical Association of Jamaica (MAJ) Symposium 2017 and conference held last weekend.

Under the theme: 'A National Public Health Problem', the annual conference drew the attendance and attention of the likes of: Minister of Health, Dr Christopher Tufton, Chief Medical Officer Dr Winston De la Haye; leading neurosurgeon Dr Carl Bruce, and Dr Shane Alexis, family physician and former president of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association.

Among the highlights of the three-day event, was the unveiling of three local technology-based medical service companies — Doctors on Call- a consultancy-based service, Advance Integrated Systems, a leading provider for large enterprise solutions, and DigiScripts — a new electronic medical management and transcription system.

The opening ceremony concluded with a cocktail hour hosted by the Jamaica National Bank.
