Prime Minister's Welcome Reception delights
It is the University of the West Indies' Chancellor's Week, and in fine style, it started with the Prime Minister's Welcome Reception.
It was a night filled with Jamaica's leaders, forward thinkers, educators and future nation builders, who were all gathered together on the lawns of Jamaica House to kick-start the week's festivities in celebration of the University's 70th anniversary.
Guests were greeted by mimosas and warm smiles before the brief formalities, while the Panoridim Steel Orchestra played sweetly in the background. The formalities were concise and included a keynote address by Minister of National Security Dr Horace Chang, who represented Prime Minister Andrew Holness. The University Singers provided exciting entertainment that had many feeling nostalgic before the close of the formalities.
The Jamaica Defence Force Pop Band played until curtain call, while guests dined and chatted about the good ol' days well spent.
