What Sheryl Lee Ralph wore to the Critics Choice Award
Veteran actress Sheryl Lee Ralph made a golden choice for Sunday's Critics Choice Awards.
Ralph, who took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Abbott Elementary, was styled by daughter, creative consultant and designer Ivy-Victoria Maurice in a custom Jovana Louis gown by Haiti-born designer, Jovana Benoit.
The brand's pieces are known to contour a woman's body, and Ralph's gold, one-shouldered, figure-hugging gown was no exception.
Describing the stunning piece as "Quel Honneur!" Benoit shared her joy at working on the gown on Instagram.
"There's no bigger challenge than designing a @jovanalouis outfit at the last minute for The Honorable/Actress, Sheryl Lee Ralph for The Critics Choice Awards Best Supporting Actress Nomination for her role as Barbara Howard in Abbott Elementary," said the post to the brand's account.
The show-stopping dress was paired with Suhani Parekh jewellery, shoes by Vince Camuto, make-up by Mila Thomas and textured curls by Moira 'Fingaz' Frazier.
Maurice notably began seriously styling Ralph in 2022. "What started as a joke in my apartment, when my mom said, 'Coco, help me put some looks together for Abbott Elementary Press', I laughed, and I took [two] days to create some looks and [six] months later, My mom is named one of The New York Times Most Stylish People of 2022," wrote Maurice in a social media post made in December of last year, referring to Ralph's listing as Style's 93 Most Stylist 'People' by The New York Times.
