Direct message brings Troy-Ann and Cory together

Troy-Ann McIntosh was busy going about her day when she received a notification from the social media platform Instagram. A handsome stranger, who went by the name Cory Archer, had slid into her direct messages, more commonly called DMs. Cory shared that he was intrigued by Troy-Ann’s beauty and decided to shoot his shot. They got to talking, and five years later, on New Year’s Eve, the two were walking down the aisle as husband and wife.
“Initially, I was, like, okay, he’s a pretty young guy, very handsome, but I thought, ‘Let’s see what he’s all about’. I wasn’t looking for a relationship at that time,” Troy-Ann confessed to Island Wedding.
But things began to change as each conversation progressed. “Our first date was pretty chill. I was a bit nervous at first, but I was, like, ‘Come on, Tee, you got this’.” She discovered that he was more mature than she had first realised. He was humble and he knew what he wanted and needed out of life.
Cory, who viewed Troy-Ann as different from the get-go, said her personality was very captivating. “I was getting that feeling where everything felt aligned. And the energy felt right when we went out to our usual dinner date on August 19, 2017. So while sitting in the car in the parking lot, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and she said yes.”
Supportive, loving, funny, adventurous, and a ‘certified’ foodie, Cory can’t get enough of how amazing Troy-Ann is and continues to be. “Her unwavering support and love has helped me to be a better person. It has nurtured our relationship in a way that no matter what, we know that we have each other’s backs,” he highlighted.
Troy-Ann was floored that her loving and supportive nature was reciprocated. Cory has grown to become her confidant and the source of her peace.
“He is there for you even when you least expect it. He supports my dreams and goals every step of the way. The love he gives and shows me surpasses understanding. When I look at him, I see the passion and joy in his eyes for me, which is mind-blowing as I [have never] experienced a true, real, and raw love like this before. I can vent to him, tell him my deepest secrets, and I know it will stay only with him,” she revealed.
She went on to share: “He has nurtured our relationship so beautifully. It’s like caring for a rose in a garden. No matter how rough or hard of a time I may be having, a kiss to the forehead and an embrace in his arms wipes all that away.”
Cory knew early on that Troy-Ann was the one for him. It was undoubtedly mutual for his beloved. On September 6, 2017, he shared his feelings when he gave her a promise ring. On that occasion, he made a promise that he would forever be there for her forever and that he was going to marry her. Three years and six months later, he kept his word, upgrading that promise ring to an engagement ring.
Prior to the engagement, ideas had began to swirl around in Cory’s head about how to make this occasion as romantic as possible. The first idea involved popping the question by the sea since Troy-Ann is a beach babe. But she was overseas, and he wanted to ask as soon as she arrived, so plan A was a no-go. Plan B took on a more personal approach, transforming their home into an enchanting oasis. “I converted our living room into a nice romantic dinner space and provided a home-cooked meal with the assistance of her friend Nicole. I then made a video of all memories of us to date, and at the end popped the question, ‘Will you marry me?’”
Of course, Troy-Ann said yes, adding that the momentous event was very intimate, romantic, emotional, and surprising.
The bride-to-be engaged with Let’s Talk Weddings Ja to assist with the nuptial process. “I am a hands-on person, so many times Cory would say, ‘Babe, just breathe and relax. They got this.’ And they did. The process was stressful at times but smooth. My planner, Shonick McFarlane, had a schedule for stuff that worked like clockwork.”
On December 31, 2022, a day before 2023, Cory and Troy-Ann took their walk from boyfriend and girlfriend to husband and wife. Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel provided an idyllic backdrop for both the wedding ceremony and reception. “The wedding was beyond breathtaking,” the beautiful bride said, adding: “Everything went as I envisioned it and more. I loved every moment of our wedding.”
Each partner had not one but two favourite moments of the big day. “The two that stood out most were the look in my husband’s eyes when he saw me coming down the aisle and hearing my husband’s vows, where he pinpointed some very important dates,” she noted. Cory shared a similar sentiment about the vow and added their first dance as husband and wife to round off his two moments.
Speaking of dance, the newly-weds had a romantic rock to Is this Love? sung by Luke Burr, a rendition of Bob Marley’s 1978 hit. At that moment, Cory declared that “... nothing else mattered than the embrace of Cory and the love we saw in each other’s eyes at that moment. The tears that fell from my eyes when he said I love you, baby, today, tomorrow, for eternity, is something I will never forget.”
