Tosh Alexander: The daring, sweet and unstoppable force
Tosh Alexander is riding high on the excitement of her latest projects and releases. While in Jamaica for a sizzling campaign shoot with Campari, she took some time to share her passions, upcoming endeavours, and what drives her.
If you’re wondering who Alexander is, get ready to dive into a world of passion, music, and unfiltered love for life. “I am a musician, and one who has been pursuing music for many years of my life. I am also a model, another field that I thoroughly enjoy. I am a Jamaican woman with a passion to entertain through singing and dancing. I am a foodie - mi love mi belly,” she laughs. “I also love my family, and I am very God-fearing.” These elements create a mosaic of energy that she brings to everything she does - from recording in the studio to stunning on set.
Filming the Red Passion - Embrace the Mix campaign was a whirlwind of creativity and collaboration, and Alexander couldn’t help but gush about the experience. “Campari has an amazing team here. I absolutely love the crew. They are so energetic and talented. There are so many different creative and charismatic talents behind the scenes. These people show up every day, getting it all together. All the different things that need to get done are always done. There is a lot of fun, laughter, conversations, and insights, and I feel really privileged to be among such talented people,” she beams. With laughter ringing through the set and a camaraderie that made every moment unforgettable, Alexander was in her element.
When it comes to her favourite Campari cocktail, Alexander’s choice perfectly mirrors her dynamic personality: Campari with grapefruit soda. “Since I was introduced to Campari and grapefruit soda, that has been my go-to mix. It’s a mixture of daring and sweet, and that’s me - very daring and very sweet,” she said with a laugh. It’s a combination that speaks to her spirit, mixing audacity with warmth and a touch of sass.
Music may be her first love, but Alexander has plenty of other passions. “I am most passionate about my family, and this might sound cliché, but I love to read and learn. I also love to travel. I was a part-time flight attendant, so that made me see the world, and I loved it,” she said earnestly. Beyond that, she’s riding high on the excitement of her latest single, My Ting Different. “I recently dropped a new single with Lady London called My Ting Different, and it is exactly as the title says. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it, so go stream it now. The video and the excitement around it is so fun, and the ladies will be popping it to this song,” she said, clearly thrilled. “This is a fusion of R&B and dancehall to represent both my backgrounds in the States and Jamaica, and this is what most of my music is like.”
Alexander’s journey in entertainment began early, with her parents playing a pivotal role. “I was born in New York, and I have lived between the States and Jamaica my whole life. I got into music through my parents and family members, who found every reason for us to sing and get together and dance and just enjoy music. At a very early age, when my parents realised that I could sing, they put me in positions that would have allowed me to exude that talent and just perform,” she explains. “I was always in talent shows and always singing in class. As I got older, I found ways to put myself in the position where I could climb the ladder of success and pursue a music career.” Determined to succeed, Alexander found ways to hone her skills and push forward in the music world.
