Family friends and well wishers hugged each other while others broke down in tears as they took a last look at the body of Reverend Glen Archer whose funeral service is taking place at the Ardenne High School in St Andrew.

Included in the scores of mourners are Opposition Leader Andrew Holness,  Education Minister Ronald Thwaites, Principal of Jamaica College, Ruel Reid, Deputy Director General of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), Richard Thompson and past spelling bee champions.

It’s an atmosphere of reunion for many as well, as past students from as far back as 1985 gathered and reflected on memories of Archer.

Thompson in an interview with The Gleaner said that it was imperative that he attended. "When you speak of Rev Archer, you speak of a strong disciplinarian and one who took teaching seriously. Whatever he touches turn to gold." The deputy director general said.
