The Jamaica Labour Party has expressed condolences to the people of Singapore and the family of Lee Kuan Yew.
Opposition Leader Andrew Holness says despite the distance between Jamaica and Singapore, the countries have maintained a good relationship.
Holness, who referenced Singapore's development extensively in his budget presentation last Thursday, noted that Jamaica and Singapore started at the same point in development and that the Singaporean leader had visited Jamaica to observe what the country was doing to grow.
He says Jamaicans have great respect for Singapore because of how it was able to emerge from poverty in less than a generation.
