Magistrate delays ruling in case involving St Mary teen accused of ISIS intentions

A Kingston magistrate has further delayed her ruling on whether the St Mary teen suspected of trying to join Islamic militants is to remain in police custody.
The Magistrate was expected to make a decision this morning upon receiving a social enquiry report on the teen.
It is understood that the report was submitted to the court and the magistrate was considering releasing the teen into the custody of the State.
However, the magistrate is still yet to make a decision as to whether the child is to be released to his relatives.
Meanwhile, it is understood that the attorney for the accused teen is pondering taking the matter to the Supreme Court.
The teen has been in custody since April 11 after being deported to Jamaica from Suriname.
The authorities there denied him entry into the country on the basis that he was heading to The Netherlands, then to Turkey to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
However, the boy's family has denied the claims.
According to the boy’s granduncle, the teen was attempting to visit his mother in England who he has not seen in six years.
The man says since the teen did not have a visa to enter the United Kingdom, he planned to meet up with his mother and grandmother in the Netherlands before travelling to England.
