For the presentation of US$5000 from Assurant Employee Benefits, Patty Wolfe (left), sales officer at Assurant; Paul Issa, chairman of the Issa Trust Foundation and Alex Ghisays, a board member, were happy to receive the cheque.

The American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ), in collaboration with the United States-based provider of insurance products, Assurant Employee Benefits, identified the Issa Trust Foundation's Annual Medical Initiative for a corporate donation.

The 11-year-old, non-profit organisation formed by Couples Resorts has conducted free paediatric medical initiatives in Westmoreland and St Mary and treated thousands of children. Come September, more than 1,000 children will be treated in the upcoming initiative in Westmoreland. All children will receive complete medical exams, medication and lab tests, if needed, as well as vision screening. If a child needs glasses, the Michigan Lions Group will be ready to fit them with a new pair at no cost.

The cheque presentation took place last Monday during Assurant's Annual President's Awards Ceremony at the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall Hotel, Montego Bay. Medical supplies, as well as a laptop and an Ipad, were donated by the 90 Assurant top producers who were honoured at the event.
