Maggi Masala noodles not distributed in Jamaica, says Nestle
Nestle Jamaica says it does not import or distribute the Maggi Masala Instant Noodles, which have been banned in parts of India.
On Wednesday authorities in Delhi banned the sale of Maggi noodles for 15 days after high levels of lead were found in batches tested there and in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
A statement from Nestle Jamaica, which distributes the Maggi brand of products locally, says the developments and concerns are being taken seriously by Nestle India.
It says Nestle India has initiated several steps including conducting additional tests and sharing the results with the relevant authorities in India.
However, it says the products under question are not sold locally by Nestle.
Nestle Jamaica says any such products found on store shelves in Jamaica are either imported or sourced directly by retailers or through the parallel trade.
