GG in Sync with Math Adventure Goals
Governor General Sir Patrick Allen has fully endorsed First Global Bank's primary school literacy and numeracy development programme, 'Music, Perfect-Pitch for a Sound Education'.
Sir Patrick's endorsement was reaffirmed at the recently held Math Adventure Day, hosted by First Global Bank at the Pembroke Hall Primary School, St Andrew. He outlined that the music project was in tune with his service-oriented 'I Believe Initiative'.
The initiative serves to motivate and inspire young people to believe in themselves to achieve their God-given potential and also to give service to their country.
Courtney Campbell, CEO of First Global Bank (FGB), which partnered with the Ministry of Education to implement the programme in October 2011, said the FGB management and staff were pleased with the governor general's approval.
"This just proves one good example of a corporate citizen - First Global Bank - stepping in to partner with the Ministry of Education, principals and teachers to give them more tools to enhance students' learning," explained Campbell.
The music project is currently active in 12 schools in St James, Manchester, St Catherine and St Andrew, where it has reaped tremendous success.
Math Adventure Day is also part of the overall measure to stimulate learning. Campbell was addressing principals, teachers and students from the 12 participating schools.
