Glen Christian, chairman and chief executive officer of Cari-Med Limited, Kirk Distributors Limited, and Federated Pharmaceuticals, has been selected to receive the Business Excellence Award at this year's Mavis & Ephraim Hawthorne Golden Krust Foundation Annual Excellence Gala. This will be held in New York on June 11.

The Mavis & Ephraim Hawthorne Foundation was established in 2005 in memory of Ephraim and Mavis Hawthorne, the parents of the Hawthorne family. Together, Ephraim and Mavis owned and operated the Hawthorne & Sons Bakery in Jamaica, which has since evolved into the Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill restaurant chain.
The Mavis & Ephraim Hawthorne Foundation is committed to giving time and support to communities in the United States and the Caribbean through scholarships as well as social services. A major area of focus is on students who are facing challenges pursuing a college education. Proceeds from the gala will go towards college scholarships.
