RUBiS celebrates a successful first anniversary

It's only been a year, but the RUBiS brand has certainly been making a mark in Jamaica.
The brand is already known for its innovation, customer service and, most important, the quality of its gas. To celebrate, the management of RUBiS hosted a first-anniversary event on Thursday, at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.
Alain Carreau, managing director, RUBiS Energy Jamaica Limited, said he was proud of the impressive progress "from the initial investment in the launch of the RUBiS brand to the extensive overhaul of the 50-plus service stations across the island".
He pointed to the French company's Ultratec brand of fuel, its state-of-the-art service station at Waterloo Road and its significant investment in its oil-import terminal as signs of RUBiS' rapid growth.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Jamaica, who have generously embraced the RUBiS brand," he said.
"Thank you to the thousands of Jamaican motorists, who are now driving on Ultratec fuels all over the island."
Carreau said generosity shown by the wider community in embracing RUBiS was evident, and expressed gratitude for new business partnerships made.
"We are pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with Wisynco to build Domino's pizza outlets at select RUBiS service stations, beginning, in the short term, with Red Hills Road service station," he said.
"This represents another first step in bringing innovation to our fuel-retailing business in Jamaica."
He also had high praise for the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining, as well as the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce for their collaborative efforts.
Gilles Gobin, founder of RUBiS International, beamed at the successes of RUBiS as
an "international group with global range ... in the oil and gas business".
"RUBiS is a very well-respected corporation for what we achieve and what is delivered, not only vis-a-vis the industry as a leader in the industry but also vis-a-vis the financial community," he said.
"We have been, for the second time, rewarded by Shell as the best worldwide-terminalling chemical business in Rotterdam, and our terminal in Rotterdam has been awarded as the benchmark, worldwide, for security and environment protection."
He said the company had also delivered "an unbelievable performance" over the last 15 years.
"We have been classified among the 10 top performers among a pool of more than 35,000 large corporations, able to deliver during the last 15 years, every year, a gross of profit which is above 10 per cent per annum ... even during the (financial) crisis," he said.
