Fire gutted the dorms of the Wortley Home for Girls this afternoon at 193 Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.

When The Gleaner news team visited the home this afternoon firemen were carrying out cooling down operations.

At least three fire units fought the blaze.

High ranking members of the Anglican Church were at the location holding preliminary talks on how to find accommodation for the 19 girls who have been left without a home.

Deloris Bailey who is a supervisor at the home told The Gleaner that eight of the girls were at the facility when the fire started.

However, she says no one was harmed.

She said the girls were not in their dorms when the fire started.
