The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is reminding student passengers that effective today they will have to pay the same fare as adults to ride it buses.
The state-owned bus company says the change comes because the school year officially ended yesterday and that the concession rate for students between 12- and 20-years-old in uniform only applies only during school time.
However, JUTC says as part of its special summer deal which takes effect tomorrow, the fare for adults and students will be reduced from $120 to $100.
JUTC says the special summer rates ends on August 29 while the postponement of the student concession rates ends on September 7 when schools reopen.
