Firefighters battle bush fire near Tinson Pen Aerodrome

Firefighters are now at the scene of a bush fire in an area adjacent to the Tinson Pen Aerodrome, Newport West in Kingston.

Our news team observed smoke blanketing the runway to the airstrip.

It was one of several blazes firefighters say they have been battling across the Corporate Area.

The other fires were in Red Hills, Patrick City and Harbour View, all in St Andrew.

Firefighters say the fire near the Tinson Pen Aerodrome has been burning for more than two hours and they were slow to respond because of the focus on other fires.

They are reporting that the fire at Tinson Pen is under control.
